Make Money Online - How Newbies Can Start Up Dirt Cheap

By: Zhenya S
Learning to make money online often begins with job loss, or perhaps physical injuries, and sometimes, older folk just can't get another job.

Take heart -- it's not the end of the world, and many moms, grandmothers, even teenagers, have succeeded in cracking the code, and "making it" to financial independence.

If you don't mind some hard work, and you're self-motivated, it can be done. It often begins with just one small website which focuses on a narrow subject, monetizing it with affiliate product links, pay-per-click/lead/action ads, and then enticing visitors to your site.

You don't even need your own website to start off -- just head for Squidoo and they will provide you with web space free of charge. There you can build as many web pages (called lenses) as you like -- all on different topics, and there's no limit. Every one of those pages can be promoting an affiliate product and be making money for you.

You don't know what you can do until you try

Even the most humblest of beginners can now learn to build a website, and there are free website builders on the Internet complete with video tutorials to help you -- absolutely no html knowledge required. Doing it yourself means huge savings -- no consultant fees. And just think, when you've found something that greatly improves your website sales, you don't have to go running back to your expensive consultant to make those changes for you. You're totally free, and have that special satisfaction of being in full control over your own business.

Your own shop with little expense

Your website is your online shopfront, and unlike its physical counterpart, its customer reach extends across the globe. Even the print media, radio and television find their audiences limited. There are no rental overheads or employee expenses, and costs are limited to owning a computer, having Internet access, and acquiring a domain name for your website, plus its hosting.

You can even avoid the costs of the domain name and web hosting at the beginning. As already stated, start with Squidoo, then get a blog, and finally, a website. Blogger.com is free of charge and you can set up as many blogs as you want. You should have one blog per keyword (or topic), promote affiliate products on each, and get paid commission for each sale.

There are those who would say that a website is not needed, and that a simple blog is enough. This is true, but even with a blog, you will still eventually need a website. At the end of the day you will find your horizons limited and financial progress slowed.

If you're willing to tackle the learning curve and some hard work, you can make money online and become financially free for pittance. Put aside distractions, get your first website up, and it gets easier after that. It need only be one page to start with, and you can slowly build it up to 3-10 pages (called minisites) afterwards. Add quality information and monetize every page with affiliate products and/or pay-per-click/lead/action ads. Finally, market it to generate traffic by submitting articles to article directories (it's free). After that, the sky's the limit.
